To celebrate the Queen’s
Diamond Jubilee
|
 |
We are planning a fun filled village event, Jubilee in June,
on 2nd June 2012 based
around a marquee in the
grounds of Manuden Primary School. The day will include competitions,
with prizes, games, a Fancy Dress parade
encompassing the 60 years of the Queen’s reign and a Jubilee
tea party for the schoolchildren and Senior Citizens.
There will also be a Pageant,
stalls, teas, cakes and snacks and to conclude the day, a 50’s Disco and Barbecue.
We hope that everyone in the village will become involved
either individually, with your family or as part of the many
organisations, groups and activities that take place in the
village. If you have any ideas or suggestions that you think
may add to the general enjoyment of the day, we would like
to hear from you.

Update May 2012
SATURDAY 2nd JUNE,
2012
To celebrate the Queen’s
Diamond Jubilee
MANUDEN SCHOOL PLAYING
FIELDS
Don't miss out on the
fun!
A committee of Valerie Bartram, Fiona Bengsten and
Nikki Atkinson (though we’re not quite sure how we came
to be appointed) started to put their heads together
in October 2011 to begin the process of creating a day
of celebration for the Villagers on 2nd June 2012 to
take place on the School Playing Field from 11 a.m.
At the time of going to press, prior to the event,
we are heartened to report that preparations are now
in the final stages. Peter Randall at the Village School
has been most supportive of our endeavours. There is
always a need for volunteers to help and we welcome any
offers most gratefully.
A large marquee will be the centrepiece of the occasion
with a Jubilee Tea for all the children of the village
and also for the Senior Citizens. The latter have been
sent invitations, but the former are too numerous so
we hope they will be there to enjoy the fun! The children
of the village up to the age of 18 will also each receive
a Jubilee Crown which the Parish Council has decided to
give them to mark the occasion of the Queen’s Diamond
Jubilee.
There will be many attractions in which we hope all
families will participate. Early in the day there will
be some fun races and sports for the children. Competitions
for both children and adults will be housed in the new
school building and be judged and prizes awarded on the
day. There will be a Fancy Dress Competition, a Best
Decorated House in the Village Competition, a Pageant,
various dancing exhibitions – (the committee are hoping
to take part as well as learn about the Street Dancing!)
A Children’s Entertainer will be there in the early afternoon
and a wind band will provide a musical interlude. A bouncy
castle and many side stalls, jarbola, tombola, treasure
maps, toys, gifts, cards, guess the number of sweets,
name the Teddy and lots more will keep everyone busy!
We have not forgotten the essentials either, there will
be a stall offering cakes and teas, candy floss, ice
creams and not least a beer tent offering draught beers,
wine and soft drinks as well as a stall selling sandwiches,
wraps etc. for lunch time hunger!
The grand finale of the day will be an evening entertainment
with Tom Rust, a fantastic singer, providing us with
music of the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s to dance to.
The tickets
for the evening of music and dancing includes a barbecue
meal as well which the Committee feel are very good value
being £25 for a Family Ticket, £10 for Adults and £5
for children.
Tickets are available NOW from Valerie
Bartram 01279 814544, Fiona Bengtsen 01279 812157 and
Nikki Atkinson 01279 813668.
